Mystery Quilts
Mystery quilts are where you follow the directions but have no idea what the quilt is going to look like! Scary but so much fun. Stick to the colour values, i.e. lights, mediums and darks, as suggested, and you should be fine. How exciting to see the quilt design unfold as you get to it.
That Square Quilt Mystery
Part Six is now available for download free until the end of February - click here to download! This is the last part of That Square Quilt Mystery. I do hope you have enjoyed making this quilt. Do come back next month for our new mystery!
While you are on the GourmetQuilter site do have a look at my other patterns - they are all downloadable just like my mystery so that you can be making your quilt minutes after you order the pattern!Past parts are available for purchase here.

Here is a little treat for you, a mystery quilt which would look great in a variety of colours, particularly quite strong colours as I have used, but you are all so good at choosing colours you may have some very different ideas! I very nearly made it in subdued taupe colours but the stronger colours won in the end!
This is meant to be a fun project and will run over six months .
The quilt will look fabulous draped over the couch or on the wall for a little extra decor, or just to use for a much needed nap!
This is a pieced quilt, some of the pieces are quite small but manageable.
I have used some delicious rich batik fabrics.
When you choose your fabrics I suggest you choose a main colour and then find the other colours that will contrast with it. It would look terrific in hand-dyes, marbles etc, this quilt relies on colour and contrast for effect!
If you are wanting to use similar fabrics to those I have used, we have some in the shop. Let me know if I can help with these things.
How it works:
I will post the new parts (hopefully) on the 1st of each month, starting in September ‘11 and finishing in February ‘12, as the new part comes up, the previous part will come down and will then be available to purchase.
The pattern is available free on-line during the specified time, but I would ask that you do not distribute it or copy it without my permission, please. However, please do tell all your friends so they can join in the fun. If you have missed some parts then you will be able to purchase them for US$3 per part here. I would love to hear from you as to how you are getting on with it, and would love to see some pictures when you have finished it.
This idea has worked so well over the last couple of years that I thought it would be fun to do another mystery straight away rather than wait another 6 months!
The computer still baffles me somewhat but with some very helpful helpers we seem to be getting there. Please let me know if there are any problems.
Have fun!
