Antique cotton wadding is a woven brushed cotton that works really well behind stitchery, applique and also just as a super thin form of batting - paticularly good behind handwork but I also use it behind free-motion machine applique, as a stabiliser. I have also used it as a batting for small quilts or table toppers as it has no bulk.
