Back Home and Back in the Barn

Hi there,

Well, doesn't time fly! I have been overseas to attend the 2 shows in Chicago and then popped in for a quick visit with Hoffman Fabrics in California - I do love visiting shows and fabric companies! At the shows I saw lots of busy people making the most amazing things. The Fiber & Fabric Festival was great - to see all the retailers selling their latest designs and products - it is not just quilting but includes fibres as well, so lots of colours with the yarn as well as the fabrics. I did manage a small amount of retail therapy!
Between shows I had the pleasure of being driven around Chicago by some wonderful ladies, this was great for me as so often I simply see the motel I am staying in and the convention centre. It was the most glorious day - Chicago is so pretty in the sunshine...

I really enjoyed attending H&H Americas trade show. Wonderful to see all the new products and fabrics coming soon. Also I had a book signing event which is always so much fun - meeting people and chatting. The book is called Put a Pin in It (available here) and it is all about pin cushions. The pic at the top of this newsletter is all about the book signing.
Then it was off to California to visit Hoffman Fabrics, always so inspiring.

Now it is down to work in the Barn Studio! I do love my barn, it is still a work in progress.....
I am designing some new quilts to show off some of the new fabrics that will be coming as well as some smaller kits and things that will be available in my corner store in the Barn. Also in the plans are some new videos - it has been some time since I was able to get any done, things at home have been occupying my time.

I've refreshed and repackaged one of my favourite projects from the GourmetQuilter 20/20 Series.

The Appliqué Houses Collection now includes all 20 house designs in one pattern, supported by 20 free video tutorials.
The Appliqué Houses Collection pattern is on special for a limited time - 30% off if you use the code GQAHC30 at the checkout.

I’ve also quietly started something new which i would love for you to be part of. Some of you have already joined, thank you and welcome to the Studio, we will have some fun there.

I’ve created a little community space over on Skool - GourmetQuilter Studio Corner
It’s very early days (in fact, quite empty at the moment!), but I’m planning to use it to share:

  • bits of travel
  • photos and ideas
  • extra inspiration
  • and a place where we can all chat a little more easily
  • this is not just about me - it is for all of us

If you feel like being part of something from the beginning, I’d love to see you there:

GourmetQuilter Studio Corner

I recently added two new patterns to the website
gourmetquilter.com

Petal Pop – this one is made using 2 1/2" strips (always a favourite of mine). It’s a lovely way to use up those strip bundles or leftovers, and it comes together in a very satisfying way. A nice mix of structured and a little bit playful.

Star of Winter – inspired by some rather delicious winter fabrics… but I have to say, it would look just as beautiful in so many different colour palettes. I always like a pattern that can change its personality depending on the fabrics you choose.

I’ve also been quietly adding bits and pieces into my GourmetQuilter Studio Corner—(see below) GourmetQuilter Gazette, photos, ideas, and little extras as they happen. It’s a nice, relaxed space to share more of the day-to-day creative moments, so if that sounds like something you’d enjoy, you’re very welcome to join us there - we love to hear what you are up to.

And just out of curiosity…
Have you started your winter sewing yet?

Take care,

SusanClaire
.....because quilting is delicious!

If you have any suggestions for videos you would like, please let me know at susanclaire@gourmetquilter.com - thanks.
